Mill Mount Fort.

Mill Mount round tower over looking the Boyne River in the centre of Drogheda was in a derelict condition.

The brief was to restore the tower to its former glory. All internal walls; floors; stairs and roof where restored. The 1st floor of the building was rebuilt.

Reconstruction started from the bottom up. New floors were constructed with eco-cem (GGBS) and finished with 200mm insulation and limestone flags sourced locally.

The fort is heated by natural gas 95% efficient condensing boiler.

The top story of the fort had collapsed. This story was rebuilt from Howard granite stone from a quarry in Co. Antrim and was cut on site by skilled stone masons.

The roof was replaced using native Irish spruce structural grade roof rafters. Insulation between rafters is 200mm rockwool. The roof is finished with natural Bangor blue slates.
